Cristina Seijo Núñez

Cristina Seijo Núñez has an MSc in Marine Biology from the University of Santiago de Compostela and an MSc in Maritime Spatial Planning from the Universities of Sevilla, Açores and IUAV di Venezia. The combination of those master's programs awakened her curiosity about the potential of the ecosystem services approach to better understand and manage marine and coastal socio-ecological systems.
She is a grant research holder within the project MaCoBioS - Marine Coastal Ecosystem Biodiversity and Services in a Changing World (2020, 2024), under the supervision of Artur Gil and Catarina Fonseca, from the Island Environmental Risks & Society - IERS group of cE3c.
As MSC-level grant researcher with full dedication, Cristina will support the scientific development of MaCoBioS project, focusing on the characterization, mapping and assessment of coastal and marine ecosystems, as well as on the valuation of the associated ecosystem services. In addition, she will develop a parallel "MaCoBioS Azores", which links directly with her Ph.D. in Marine Science, Technology and Management by the University of Santiago de Compostela, started in early 2020.
