RCE Açores supports the efforts of a network of organizations and individuals engaged in education for sustainable development within and between the various islands of these ultraperipheral archipelagos. This network aims to create mechanisms for participation in civil society and to overcome challenges posed by the isolation of this region. RCE Açores aims to support ongoing as well as create new opportunities for citizens to reflect on their relationships with the social and natural environment and disseminate their expertise and experience of sustainability into all sectors of society. RCE Açores aims to be a focal point for transformative education for regional sustainable development. The network consists of universities, other schools, cultural institutions, municipalities and other government agencies, NGOs and regional associations and, private and cooperative enterprises.
