Very rare plant found on Terceira Island

During the fieldwork for the project NetBiome and ISLANDBIODIV were found two specimens of Grammitis azorica. This is a small fetus, endemic of Azores, discovered on the island of Flores, the only place where its occurrence was confirmed. G. azorica is a fetus epiphyte found especially in the trunks of Juniperus brevifolia, Ilex perado subsp. azorica and Picconia azorica. Individuals found in Terceira island were found on trunks of Juniperus brevifolia, located in the Natural Reserves of Biscoito da Ferraria/Pico Alto e Terra Brava/Criação das Lagoas.
